ROO$TERROO$TER Kids Privacy Policy
ROO$TER is built to be a safe, parent-approved place for young creators to post and monetize their passion. This policy explains, in plain language, how we protect children under 13 online and how parents stay in control.
A child under 13 cannot upload content or receive any payout on ROO$TER until a parent or legal guardian gives verifiable consent. We collect the minimum information needed, protect it, never sell it, and let parents review, revoke, or delete it at any time.
1. Who this policy covers
This Kids Privacy Policy applies to ROO$TER members we know to be under 13 years old, and supplements our general Privacy Policy. It reflects our obligations under the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and its implementing rule.
2. Verifiable parental consent comes first
When a member tells us their date of birth places them under 13, ROO$TER treats the account as a child account and locks content collection and payouts until a parent or legal guardian completes our verifiable-consent process:
- The parent/legal guardian opens the guardian-approval flow from the child's account.
- They complete a live, timestamped facial verification confirming a real adult is present and consenting.
- They review this policy and sign a written consent statement authorizing ROO$TER to collect and use their child's information as described here.
- Only after consent is verified can the child upload content or receive a payout. This is enforced automatically on our servers.
We store the consent record — the timestamped verification photo and the signed statement — privately, solely as proof of consent and for fraud protection. It is never shown publicly or sold.
3. Information we collect from a child
- Account basics — first name or chosen display name, and a parent/guardian contact so we can reach a verified adult.
- Age signal — date of birth and state, used only to determine age-based protections.
- Content the child chooses to post — photos or videos they upload to document their dreams, once parental consent is verified.
- Limited technical data — the minimum needed to operate the app securely (e.g., device/session info for login and abuse prevention).
We collect no more than is reasonably necessary for a child to participate, and we do not condition participation on disclosing more than that.
4. How we use it — and how we don't
- To operate the child's account, publish content the family has approved, and process earnings to the verified guardian.
- To keep the community safe — moderation, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.
- We do not sell or rent a child's personal information.
- We do not use a child's data for behavioral/targeted advertising.
- We do not require a child to share more information than is needed to take part.
5. How we protect it
Sensitive documents and verification photos are encrypted at rest in our secure vault and are accessible only to the account owner and ROO$TER's support/compliance team. We apply access controls, timestamped audit records, and retention limits, and we delete personal information when it is no longer needed for the purpose it was collected.
6. Parents are always in control
At any time, a parent or legal guardian may:
- Review the personal information we have collected from their child;
- Refuse further collection or use of that information;
- Revoke consent and have the child's account paused; and
- Request deletion of the child's personal information.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below and we will verify you as the parent/guardian before acting.
7. Sharing
We share a child's information only with service providers that help us run ROO$TER (for example, secure hosting and payment processing), under contracts requiring them to protect it and use it only for those services — and where the law requires it. We never sell it.
8. Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to how we handle children's information, we will update this page and, where required, obtain new parental consent. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
9. Contact us
